Session 2
From Luftenwelter Encyclopedia
After leaving the bandits' hideout, where they had gone to rescue Lydia, the party finds itself surrounded by a rival gang, who propose a deal to them (or else...) They are to accompany a caravan which is looking for mercenary escort (and won't leave unless it finds some), and disappear at the moment of the attack. This proposal doesn't go too well with any of the members of the party, who try to delay the gang and ridicule their leader.
In the meantime, Brulus escapes to the top of the building, which leads to a climatic chase on the rooftops, where the hunchback is pursued by two gang members while carrying the girl. Unfortunately, he missteps after attempting to dispatch one of the pursuers, and ends up falling to the ground. Miraculously, they're both unharmed. At this point, Iaru, Lydia's pet puppy, who had been tracking them, comes out of the darkness and is lovingly greeted by the girl. The bandits catch up with them, however, and as the fight rages, under the threat to Lydia, Iaru transforms into a beautiful wolf, grey-white hair with hints of blue, and attacks the bandits. Brulus (astonished by this transformation) and the wolf take care of them, with the help of Lydia's expert rock-throwing, and after the fight, the wolf reverts to a puppy.
Meanwhile, the party had grudgingly accepted the bandits' proposal (with a secret plan of betraying them, of course) and headed on to the Cat and the Sorcerer, the inn where the merchant, Ard, had been awaiting for interested mercenaries. By talking with him and bartering for what would be reasonable compensation, the party quickly finds why there had been no takers yet: the merchant is a little tight with payment. Still, they manage to agree on a price and Theladios promises to find a 4th member (that would be Brulus, who they hadn't seen since he ran away).
At this point, the party disbands, with only a few hours before departing next morning. Rupert heads off, saying he'll meet the party at their designated meeting point the following morning, but intends to slip away from this annoying business and catch a boat out of the island instead.
Several of the members head towards head towards the Boar's Breath, in order to see if Lydia and Brulus had made it back safely. They make it just in time to deliver the girl to her thankful parents. After this, they head towards a brothel in the Slums, where Brulus planned to do some digging. There, the hunchback is able to extract some useful information from a contact of his, Jeckie, whom he promises to "save" from her terrible life once the whole thing is over.
The characters return to get some (very little) sleep, except for Brulus, who stays up brewing potions and whatnot.
